My Coaching Process
You are a whole person, not a lump of tissue, a painful disease, or a spirit trapped inside a body.
I use the BEST model of coaching to honor all aspects of your life, and I look at your pain in the context of who you are and who you want to become. Through a series of empowering conversations, we focus together on strategies to support your healing at every level:

Your physical wellness includes how you care for your vulvovaginal condition, but we also look at your diet, sleep, movement and more to nurture your body’s natural healing process. I take a Trauma Informed perspective by acknowledging the ways our bodies hold trauma, helping you listen to your body’s needs and limits, and respecting your sovereignty over your own body at all times.
When indicated, I can help you find a therapist skilled in EMDR to facilitate trauma reprocessing on a deeper level. This kind of therapy is especially helpful in “unhooking” the tangled stories in our bodies and helping us move forward, and it’s a powerful accompaniment to coaching. -
The stories we tell ourselves hold power. I can help you identify the limiting beliefs and narratives that no longer serve you, clarify your vision of wholeness, and find creative ways around the blocks that keep you from making the changes you desire. I understand the unique impact of sexual pain on our identity as women, and I help you reaffirm your intrinsic value. We explore healing practices that help you move through your emotions and find a restorative calm baseline.
So many women with vulvodynia are told “the pain is in your head” or “just have a glass of wine and relax.” This dismissal can make us reluctant to seek psychological help. I encourage my clients to consider therapy - not because the pain is made up in your head, but because the pain MESSES with your head. Pain makes us feel that we are in danger all the time, and our nervous system gets stuck in fight-or-flight response, which decreases resilience and increases pain. It’s important for both coach and therapist to support healthy cognition and regulation practices so you can step out of the pain cycle and experience restored agency.

Chronic sexual pain can profoundly impact our spiritual life, and we can also find profound healing through our connection to the divine love which creates and restores us. In our work together, I may ask about your spirituality and explore what practices best connect you to transcendent healing. I do not pretend to represent all religious traditions, but I honor all perspectives while holding mine with sincerity and sharing them only as desired.
When requested, I can offer a Christian perspective and healing prayer as part of our work together.

Your healing team includes the doctors, therapists, and other medical practitioners who help you care for your body. But let’s not forget about the other kids of support you need. Just as sexual pain can wound our relationships, especially with our nearest and dearest, we also find healing in relationships.
